Growing our East Midlands business over the past year has been one of most rewarding and enjoyable experiences across our business. This is a region that we love working in.
Our objective is to become one of the most influential accountancy & finance recruiters across the East Midlands region.
Our business has been built on our long history in the accountancy & finance sector in Yorkshire, North Derbyshire & North Nottinghamshire. We have evolved and now recruit across all disciplines at board and management level, with a very strong multi-discipline offering for key clients. Our expertise in accountancy & finance has given us our first foundation for growing our East Midlands business.
There are many similarities between the Yorkshire region and the East Midlands, but also many differences. Our first step to building a successful presence in the East Midlands was to recruit the right people for our business. Charlotte Morgan-Smith joined us in November 2021, bringing over 30 years’ of experience in the Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire recruitment sector.
Our business relies on our brand and our referrals. We have some very deep-seated relationships with some of the national accounting firms, banks and private equity investors that have led to warm introductions to the East Midlands operations.
One of the most rewarding parts of our work over the past year has been in building relationships with the local independent advisors. The network in the East Midlands has been incredibly welcoming and very keen to help us get started. It is so much easier to orientate yourself to a new region with the help of some of the existing stalwarts!
Networking with candidates is one of the biggest opportunities for any recruitment business – we have collectively met with over 400 candidates in the East Midlands in 2022. We look forward to hosting our first Nottinghamshire Chartered Accountancy Student Society event in February, our first event with the institute in the region.
There are some very established recruiters in the East Midlands who specialise in the accountancy & finance sector. We did not expect that it would be easy to carve out our own niche in the region, but the market has helped us – with the demand for finance talent continuously outstripping the supply, there have been a number of “hard-to-fill” job vacancies across the region – these are the very best opportunities for us to build our reputation! Our expertise and resources give us the confidence to approach every situation with the target of achieving a positive result. During 2022, Charlotte has completed on 92% of the job opportunities that she has managed – a phenomenal statistic! Testament to the strength of our proposition and strategy.
The past year has given us some success to build on, a network to rely on and a great platform to grow our business in the East Midlands on.
We are looking to continue to grow our client base this year. We work with SMEs and corporates, private equity and not-for-profit, and across all sectors. The one common denominator for our clients is that they place the highest level of importance in their people strategies – whether that is developing their EVPs, improving their ED&I, benchmarking their reward schemes or being open to improving their recruitment processes, we have so much knowledge in our business to draw upon and make a difference.
